I have a PhD in Communication Studies, and I left academia in 2018 for a job in tech. Since then I've been fired, laid off, and promoted across five companies. Today I'm a senior product manager at an Ed-tech firm.

The leap to industry was scary, and job hunting can be a lonely process. I wish I'd had someone in my corner, so now I try to be that person for other PhDs: to remind you what you're bringing with you and help you say it clearly to people outside your field.

I came to writing looking for a creative outlet. I found a wonderful community, and I feel like I have interesting stories to tell.
